Getting First Dibs on Organic Face Wash
What is an organic face wash and should you use it to keep your skin clean? What exactly does it entail if a product has the word “organic” on the label? If you have sensitive skin, should you include organic products in your beauty arsenal? Read on to find out.
What is Organic, Anyway?
When buying organic products, a good rule of thumb to follow is to look for ingredients listed in brackets. If it says that the product is made with USDA certified organic and all-natural ingredients, then you’re good to go.
However, just because it says organic or natural on the label does not mean that it does not contain an element that you might be allergic to. Just to be on the safe side, make sure to do a patch skin test before applying lotion, facial wash, cream, or similar products all over your face and body. This is especially crucial if you have sensitive skin.
What About Organic Skin Facial Cleansers?
Now, if you are looking for an organic product that is suitable as a facial cleanser, here are a few things to remember:
- Buy from a company that specializes in organic and natural skin care products. For instance, if you are looking for something that will help minimize the appearance of fine lines, look for a face oil for wrinkles made from USDA-certified organic ingredients. The same thing applies to facial cleansers. Face oils can double as a makeup remover, cleanser, and moisturizer. But if you want a specialized skin care product that focuses only on skin cleansing, the label should say “skin facial cleanser”.
- It also helps to know what your skin type is when buying a facial cleanser. If you have oily skin, look for a cleanser that zaps oiliness right off the bat. It doesn’t mean stripping your skin of its natural oils, but helping get rid of the excess oil and dirt so that any skin impurities will be removed during the cleansing process.
- You should also look for the terms fragrance-free and paraben-free on the label. This means that the formula of the facial cleanser steers clear of harmful chemicals and fragrances.
The more natural ingredients listed on the label, the better. You should also look at the consistency and color of the cleanser. It should have hardly any color which means that there is less chemical present. When applied on the face, it should feel soothing, gentle, and refreshing with a very subtle, natural scent. Know exactly what you are buying before applying it on your face so that you can get a cleanser that’s most suitable for your skin type.
