How does a AHA exfoliant cleanser work?
AHAs known as alpha hydroxy acids, dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. AHA exfoliant cleansers go to work to make way for a smoother skin surface and a healthier glow.
AHAs are mainly derived from milk, fruits like apples and grapes, sugar cane and nuts. When applied to the skin, they work by breaking down the glue that hold skin cells together, helping the skin’s natural shedding process. Since they are water soluble, they are not great at deeply penetrating clogged pores, but rather work on the surface of the skin.
During the exfoliation process, AHAs retexture the skin, smooth it out, and unglue bonds that tie the cells that make skin really dull and flakey. AHA exfoliants are great for dry skin types and are also humectants so they will hydrate your skin too.
